Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Textile and Biotech & Medical Care sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kingcan (TW:8411), which rose 9.94% or 2.55 points to trade at 28.20 at the close. Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) added 9.66% or 0.23 points to end at 2.61 and Nichidenbo (TW:3090) was up 9.39% or 2.00 points to 23.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eclat Textile (TW:1476), which lost 10.00% or 50.50 points to trade at 454.50 in late trade. Paiho Shih (TW:8404) declined 9.80% or 2.70 points to end at 24.85 and Feng Tay Entpr (TW:9910) shed 9.77% or 19.50 points to 180.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 612 to 228 and 1 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.68% or 0.33 to $48.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.95% or 0.49 to hit $51.82 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.60% or 6.90 to trade at $1141.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.48% to 32.606, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1959.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 95.58.
