Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Electronic Parts/Components sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028), which rose 10.00% or 0.14 points to trade at 1.54 at the close. Everlight Chem (TW:1711) added 10.00% or 1.90 points to end at 20.90 and Advanced Power (TW:8261) was up 9.92% or 3.05 points to 33.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which lost 9.91% or 0.56 points to trade at 5.09 in late trade. Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) declined 9.87% or 0.30 points to end at 2.74 and Aoc (TW:6289) shed 9.80% or 0.15 points to 1.38.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 525 to 311 and 4 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.32% or 0.58 to $43.40 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.96% or 0.46 to hit $47.09 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.15% or 1.70 to trade at $1164.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.23% to 32.441, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1969.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 96.88.
