Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Biotech & Medical Care and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Fulgent Sun (TW:9802), which rose 10.00% or 5.30 points to trade at 58.30 at the close. Giantplus (TW:8105) added 9.86% or 1.80 points to end at 20.05 and Ta-I Tech (TW:2478) was up 9.84% or 1.55 points to 17.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Htc Corp (TW:2498), which lost 9.78% or 11.00 points to trade at 101.50 in late trade. Microelectroni (TW:2314) declined 7.69% or 0.85 points to end at 10.20 and Space Shuttle (TW:2440) shed 6.56% or 0.59 points to 8.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 477 to 268 and 107 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.41% or 0.17 to $41.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.48% or 0.20 to hit $41.74 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.30% or 3.70 to trade at $1247.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.46% to 32.390, while TWD/CNY rose 0.20% to 0.2001.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 95.29.
