Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Electronic Parts/Components sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.26% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Aoc (TW:6289), which rose 8.93% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.12 at the close. Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018) added 7.84% or 1.20 points to end at 16.50 and Mag Tech (TW:2358) was up 6.61% or 0.62 points to 10.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fulgent Sun (TW:9802), which lost 9.98% or 5.20 points to trade at 46.90 in late trade. Asia Plastic (TW:1337) declined 9.86% or 1.70 points to end at 15.55 and Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) shed 9.80% or 0.49 points to 4.51.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 568 to 274 and 1 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.63% or 0.30 to $48.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.24% or 0.13 to hit $55.40 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.97% or 10.60 to trade at $1083.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 31.424, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.1987.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 97.28.
