Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Glass and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sinkang Inds (TW:2032), which rose 9.97% or 0.97 points to trade at 10.70 at the close. Taimide (TW:3645) added 9.89% or 3.15 points to end at 35.00 and Favite (TW:3535) was up 9.82% or 1.40 points to 15.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Epileds Tech (TW:4956), which lost 8.99% or 2.50 points to trade at 25.30 in late trade. Long Bon (TW:2514) declined 6.49% or 1.10 points to end at 15.85 and Honmyue Enter (TW:1474) shed 4.44% or 0.55 points to 11.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 404 to 339 and 122 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.08% or 0.54 to $49.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.89% or 0.45 to hit $50.34 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.17% or 2.15 to trade at $1275.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.12% to 31.571, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2147.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 98.57.
