Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Plastic and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 2.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were G-Tech (TW:3149), which rose 9.98% or 0.98 points to trade at 10.80 at the close. Everfocus Elec (TW:5484) added 9.93% or 0.400 points to end at 4.430 and Taroko Texl (TW:1432) was up 8.33% or 1.70 points to 22.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inotera Memo (TW:3474), which lost 9.86% or 2.90 points to trade at 26.50 in late trade. Hung Sheng Con (TW:2534) declined 9.76% or 1.60 points to end at 14.80 and Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) shed 9.62% or 2.30 points to 21.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 701 to 104 and 47 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.30% or 0.64 to $48.43 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.25% or 0.63 to hit $49.91 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.74% or 9.45 to trade at $1285.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.62% to 32.424, while TWD/CNY rose 0.40% to 0.2033.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.61.
