Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Computers & Peripherals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.09% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hanpin (TW:2488), which rose 9.34% or 2.40 points to trade at 28.10 at the close. Novatek Microe (TW:3034) added 6.05% or 6.50 points to end at 114.00 and Huaku (TW:2548) was up 5.06% or 2.70 points to 56.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Right Way Ind (TW:1506), which lost 10.00% or 1.50 points to trade at 13.50 in late trade. Bizlink (TW:3665) declined 10.00% or 14.50 points to end at 130.50 and Largan Precisi (TW:3008) shed 9.93% or 300.00 points to 2720.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 593 to 246 and 3 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.37% or 0.17 to $44.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $49.55 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.03% or 0.30 to trade at $1085.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.34% to 31.641, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.1970.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 97.88.
