Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Glass and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026), which rose 10.00% or 24.50 points to trade at 269.50 at the close. Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) added 10.00% or 0.89 points to end at 9.79 and HannStar Board Corp (TW:5469) was up 9.98% or 3.00 points to 33.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ichia Technologies Inc (TW:2402), which lost 9.97% or 1.85 points to trade at 16.70 in late trade. Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413) declined 9.89% or 3.75 points to end at 34.15 and Yu Foong International Corp (TW:1438) shed 7.90% or 0.670 points to 7.810.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 547 to 258 and 108 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.92% or 0.68 to $73.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.16% or 0.92 to hit $78.31 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.32% or 4.00 to trade at $1250.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.01% to 30.481, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2184.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 94.47.
