Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Trading & Consumer Goods and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Roo Hsing (TW:4414), which rose 9.98% or 2.00 points to trade at 22.05 at the close. Candmark (TW:5259) added 9.96% or 0.28 points to end at 3.09 and Aoc (TW:6289) was up 9.92% or 0.120 points to 1.330 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mag Tech (TW:2358), which lost 6.40% or 0.45 points to trade at 6.58 in late trade. Everfocus Elec (TW:5484) declined 5.47% or 0.310 points to end at 5.360 and Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) shed 5.00% or 0.090 points to 1.710.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 380 to 369 and 104 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.57% or 0.77 to $48.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.98% or 0.49 to hit $49.61 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.53% or 7.15 to trade at $1346.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.24% to 32.280, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2072.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 95.65.
