Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Textile and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Via Tech (TW:2388), which rose 9.95% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.15 at the close. Hanpin (TW:2488) added 9.87% or 3.85 points to end at 42.85 and Sinkang Inds (TW:2032) was up 9.60% or 0.88 points to 10.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shuttle (TW:2405), which lost 10.00% or 1.25 points to trade at 11.25 in late trade. Zinwell (TW:2485) declined 9.98% or 5.90 points to end at 53.20 and Eclat Textile (TW:1476) shed 9.90% or 39.50 points to 359.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 608 to 169 and 77 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.10% or 0.04 to $40.32 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $42.80 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1257.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.06% to 32.367, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2001.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 93.96.
