Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Machinery sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tidehold Development Co Ltd (TW:9902), which rose 10.00% or 2.10 points to trade at 23.10 at the close. Tri Ocean Textile Co Ltd (TW:1472) added 9.92% or 5.90 points to end at 65.40 and Abonmax Co Ltd (TW:2429) was up 9.87% or 3.35 points to 37.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included China Motor Corp (TW:2204), which lost 9.95% or 10.80 points to trade at 97.70 in late trade. Lead Data Inc (TW:2443) declined 9.85% or 0.39 points to end at 3.57 and Shin Zu Shing Co Ltd (TW:3376) shed 6.64% or 15.00 points to 211.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.96% or 0.75 to $78.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.85% or 0.69 to hit $81.53 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.76% or 18.80 to trade at $2,491.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was unchanged 0.01% to 32.70, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.18% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 103.81.
