Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.03% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were AzureWave Technologies Inc (TW:3694), which rose 10.00% or 2.65 points to trade at 29.15 at the close. Tyntek Corp (TW:2426) added 9.83% or 2.25 points to end at 25.15 and Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) was up 9.79% or 1.65 points to 18.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413), which lost 9.82% or 2.45 points to trade at 22.50 in late trade. Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383) declined 7.48% or 5.90 points to end at 73.00 and Yeong Guan Energy Technology Group Co Ltd (TW:1589) shed 6.44% or 3.80 points to 55.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 497 to 332 and 91 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.23% or 0.17 to $73.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.08% or 0.06 to hit $77.33 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.15% or 1.90 to trade at $1256.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.23% to 30.456, while TWD/CNY rose 0.32% to 0.2180.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 94.04.
