Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Auto, Semiconductor and Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.93% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were China Steel Ch (TW:1723), which rose 9.95% or 10.50 points to trade at 116.00 at the close. Microelectroni (TW:2314) added 9.94% or 0.81 points to end at 8.96 and San Chih (TW:3579) was up 9.91% or 1.10 points to 12.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Paragon Tech (TW:3518), which lost 3.66% or 1.40 points to trade at 36.90 in late trade. Asia Plastic (TW:1337) declined 3.60% or 0.75 points to end at 20.10 and Formosa Hotel (TW:2707) shed 3.24% or 7.00 points to 209.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 507 to 331 and 1 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.44% or 0.20 to $46.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $49.69 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.50% or 5.90 to trade at $1185.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.51% to 32.195, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.1966.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 93.87.
