Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Machinery, Hotels and Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 10.00% or 0.80 points to trade at 8.80 at the close. Young Fast (TW:3622) added 10.00% or 1.00 points to end at 11.00 and Avc (TW:3017) was up 10.00% or 2.05 points to 22.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aoc (TW:6289), which lost 7.62% or 0.08 points to trade at 0.97 in late trade. Ocean Plastics (TW:1321) declined 5.42% or 1.55 points to end at 27.05 and Lilontex (TW:1469) shed 4.26% or 0.55 points to 12.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 692 to 153 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.43% or 0.20 to $46.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.59% or 0.30 to hit $50.20 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.07% or 0.80 to trade at $1132.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.76% to 32.508, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1947.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.94.
