Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Machinery, Biotech & Medical Care and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Casetek (TW:5264), which rose 10.00% or 12.50 points to trade at 137.50 at the close. Airtac (TW:1590) added 10.00% or 15.50 points to end at 170.50 and Htc Corp (TW:2498) was up 9.93% or 4.75 points to 52.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Spirox (TW:3055), which lost 4.66% or 0.55 points to trade at 11.25 in late trade. Hannstar Displ (TW:6116) declined 4.49% or 0.21 points to end at 4.47 and China Tv (TW:9928) shed 3.64% or 0.36 points to 9.52.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 510 to 331 and 1 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 3.36% or 1.54 to $44.51 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.81% or 0.39 to hit $48.02 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.23% or 2.60 to trade at $1118.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.79% to 32.669, while TWD/CNY rose 0.41% to 0.1952.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.84.
