Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electronic Products Distribution, Communication and Internet and Information Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.12% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Lingsen (TW:2369), which rose 9.96% or 1.40 points to trade at 15.45 at the close. Weltrend Semic (TW:2436) added 9.93% or 2.80 points to end at 31.00 and Kpt Industries (TW:1805) was up 9.88% or 1.25 points to 13.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pihsiang (TW:1729), which lost 9.97% or 4.90 points to trade at 44.25 in late trade. Vivotek (TW:3454) declined 8.87% or 7.90 points to end at 81.20 and Jinli (TW:8429) shed 5.91% or 2.20 points to 35.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 445 to 289 and 141 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.67% or 0.32 to $47.50 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.63% or 0.32 to hit $50.47 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.09% or 13.58 to trade at $1234.92 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.28% to 30.141, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2289.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 99.33.
