Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Electricity and Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were 1St Copper Tec (TW:2009), which rose 10.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 11.00 at the close. Bonny Worldwide Ltd (TW:8467) added 9.99% or 3.50 points to end at 38.55 and Inventec Besta (TW:8201) was up 9.89% or 0.90 points to 10.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genius (TW:3406), which lost 9.85% or 23.00 points to trade at 210.50 in late trade. Lemtech Holdings Co Ltd (TW:4912) declined 9.70% or 13.00 points to end at 121.00 and Asia Optical (TW:3019) shed 6.92% or 3.80 points to 51.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 392 to 379 and 106 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.50% or 0.27 to $54.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $56.23 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.29% or 3.65 to trade at $1235.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 30.825, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2227.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 101.13.
