Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Plastic and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Arcadyan Technology Corp (TW:3596), which rose 10.00% or 6.70 points to trade at 73.70 at the close. VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388) added 9.92% or 4.55 points to end at 50.40 and Tai Tung Communication Co Ltd (TW:8011) was up 9.87% or 1.90 points to 21.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included King Core Electronics Inc (TW:6155), which lost 9.96% or 4.95 points to trade at 44.75 in late trade. Loop Telecommunication International Inc (TW:3025) declined 8.29% or 3.10 points to end at 34.30 and Evertex Fabrinology Ltd (TW:1470) shed 6.91% or 1.40 points to 18.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 617 to 189 and 107 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.34% or 0.25 to $73.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.14% or 0.11 to hit $77.50 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 1.70 to trade at $1252.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.37% to 30.459, while TWD/CNY rose 0.42% to 0.2172.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 94.60.
