Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Cement, Other Electronic and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.26% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388), which rose 9.98% or 2.20 points to trade at 24.25 at the close. Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958) added 9.97% or 5.70 points to end at 62.90 and Chia Ta World Co Ltd (TW:2033) was up 9.97% or 1.50 points to 16.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465), which lost 9.95% or 2.85 points to trade at 25.80 in late trade. Chaintech Technology Corp (TW:2425) declined 8.54% or 2.70 points to end at 28.90 and Globe Industries Corp (TW:1324) shed 8.03% or 1.20 points to 13.75.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 509 to 308 and 97 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.10% or 0.06 to $61.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.08% or 0.05 to hit $65.44 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1323.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.17% to 29.305, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2164.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 90.00.
