Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Hotels, Transport and Electronic Parts/Components sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465), which rose 10.00% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.55 at the close. Chaintech Technology Corp (TW:2425) added 10.00% or 2.85 points to end at 31.35 and Shunsin Technology Holdings Ltd (TW:6451) was up 9.98% or 6.40 points to 70.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yu Foong International Corp (TW:1438), which lost 9.83% or 0.770 points to trade at 7.060 in late trade. Evertex Fabrinology Ltd (TW:1470) declined 5.85% or 1.15 points to end at 18.50 and Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) shed 5.59% or 2.05 points to 34.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 667 to 166 and 67 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.57% or 0.81 to $52.37 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.51% or 0.91 to hit $61.31 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1220.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 30.892, while TWD/CNY rose 0.04% to 0.2248.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 97.255.
