Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Glass and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were CSBC Corp Taiwan (TW:2208), which rose 10.00% or 2.20 points to trade at 24.20 at the close. HTC Corp (TW:2498) added 10.00% or 5.50 points to end at 60.50 and Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) was up 9.94% or 4.50 points to 49.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cub Elecparts Inc (TW:2231), which lost 10.00% or 42.50 points to trade at 382.50 in late trade. Chin-Poon Industrial Co Ltd (TW:2355) declined 10.00% or 4.35 points to end at 39.15 and Kingcan Holdings Ltd (TW:8411) shed 7.42% or 1.55 points to 19.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 617 to 213 and 84 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.40% or 0.27 to $67.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.50% or 0.37 to hit $73.42 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.31% or 4.10 to trade at $1319.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.19% to 29.610, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2149.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 91.35.
