Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Financials and Computers & Peripherals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Nishoku (TW:3679), which rose 9.99% or 8.20 points to trade at 90.30 at the close. Calin (TW:4976) added 9.95% or 3.95 points to end at 43.65 and Kuangli Photoelectric Tech (TW:6431) was up 9.90% or 0.85 points to 9.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included C Sun Mfg (TW:2467), which lost 9.25% or 1.80 points to trade at 17.65 in late trade. Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018) declined 8.24% or 3.60 points to end at 40.10 and Ichia (TW:2402) shed 8.19% or 1.70 points to 19.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 383 to 372 and 120 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.31% or 0.15 to $48.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $51.42 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.16% or 2.03 to trade at $1257.53 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.62% to 30.022, while TWD/CNY rose 0.13% to 0.2276.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 98.97.
