Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Other Electronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Microelectronics Technology Inc (TW:2314), which rose 9.85% or 2.00 points to trade at 22.30 at the close. Radiant Opto-Electronics Corp (TW:6176) added 8.59% or 6.80 points to end at 86.00 and Apex Biotechnology Corp (TW:1733) was up 6.86% or 2.00 points to 31.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519), which lost 9.82% or 0.44 points to trade at 4.04 in late trade. Airtac International Group (TW:1590) declined 8.84% or 31.00 points to end at 319.50 and Rexon Industrial Corp Ltd (TW:1515) shed 8.45% or 6.30 points to 68.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 442 to 348 and 121 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.43% or 0.20 to $46.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.55% or 0.31 to hit $56.57 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1254.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.15% to 30.766, while TWD/CNY rose 0.13% to 0.2236.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 96.328.
