Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Everfocus Elec (TW:5484), which rose 10.00% or 0.460 points to trade at 5.060 at the close. Calin (TW:4976) added 9.92% or 1.20 points to end at 13.30 and Kinko Optical (TW:6209) was up 9.46% or 1.40 points to 16.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which lost 8.50% or 0.39 points to trade at 4.20 in late trade. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 4.90% or 1.40 points to end at 27.20 and Aoc (TW:6289) shed 4.63% or 0.050 points to 1.030.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 425 to 292 and 140 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.07% or 0.52 to $47.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.10% or 0.55 to hit $49.28 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.06% or 0.75 to trade at $1288.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 32.439, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2033.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 94.91.
