Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Construction and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ta Liang Technology Co Ltd (TW:3167), which rose 10.00% or 6.80 points to trade at 74.80 at the close. Edimax Technology Co Ltd (TW:3047) added 10.00% or 3.85 points to end at 42.35 and King’s Town Construction Co Ltd (TW:2524) was up 9.98% or 9.30 points to 102.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lead Data Inc (TW:2443), which lost 9.85% or 0.39 points to trade at 3.57 in late trade. Vivotek Inc (TW:3454) declined 9.29% or 12.50 points to end at 122.00 and Global Unichip Corp (TW:3443) shed 9.13% or 110.00 points to 1,095.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.81% or 1.35 to $76.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.70% or 1.33 to hit $79.40 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 9.75 to trade at $2,461.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.16% to 32.79, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.09% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 104.23.
