Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708), which rose 10.00% or 10.00 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. AzureWave Technologies Inc (TW:3694) added 10.00% or 2.55 points to end at 28.05 and Ene Technology Inc (TW:6243) was up 10.00% or 1.50 points to 16.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413), which lost 9.98% or 4.10 points to trade at 37.00 in late trade. Infodisc Technology Co Ltd (TW:2491) declined 9.95% or 0.91 points to end at 8.24 and CMC Magnetics Corp (TW:2323) shed 9.92% or 1.250 points to 11.350.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 468 to 330 and 116 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.66% or 0.44 to $65.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.62% or 0.47 to hit $75.41 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.10 to trade at $1298.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 29.900, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2137.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 93.93.
