Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taimide Tech Inc (TW:3645), which rose 9.95% or 6.60 points to trade at 72.90 at the close. Uniflex Technology Inc (TW:3321) added 9.77% or 1.30 points to end at 14.60 and Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) was up 9.64% or 12.00 points to 136.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hotel Holiday Garden (TW:2702), which lost 9.96% or 3.50 points to trade at 31.65 in late trade. Walsin Technology Corp (TW:2492) declined 9.16% or 35.00 points to end at 347.00 and Yageo Corp (TW:2327) shed 7.02% or 59.00 points to 781.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 495 to 293 and 131 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.36% or 0.25 to $69.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.28% or 0.21 to hit $75.34 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.11% or 1.30 to trade at $1220.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.17% to 30.640, while TWD/CNY rose 0.22% to 0.2238.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 94.13.
