Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Financials and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165), which rose 9.96% or 3.35 points to trade at 37.00 at the close. Aurora Corp (TW:2373) added 9.86% or 5.50 points to end at 61.30 and China General (TW:1305) was up 9.83% or 2.55 points to 28.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lemtech Holdings Co Ltd (TW:4912), which lost 9.83% or 11.50 points to trade at 105.50 in late trade. Kinik (TW:1560) declined 5.66% or 4.40 points to end at 73.40 and Tatung Co Ltd (TW:2371) shed 5.24% or 0.75 points to 13.55.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 390 to 371 and 117 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.68% or 0.36 to $52.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.59% or 0.33 to hit $55.59 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.11% or 1.35 to trade at $1217.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.03% to 30.866, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2229.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 101.75.
