Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Electricity, Electronic Parts/Components and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were China Steel Structure Co Ltd (TW:2013), which rose 10.00% or 2.65 points to trade at 29.15 at the close. Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) added 9.98% or 2.50 points to end at 27.55 and Acer Inc (TW:2353) was up 9.98% or 2.15 points to 23.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rexon Industrial Corp Ltd (TW:1515), which lost 7.85% or 3.55 points to trade at 41.70 in late trade. Casetek Holdings Ltd (TW:5264) declined 7.20% or 5.10 points to end at 65.70 and Yusin Holding Corp (TW:4557) shed 6.81% or 4.80 points to 65.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 439 to 350 and 124 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.17% or 1.50 to $70.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 2.35% or 1.76 to hit $76.61 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.37% or 4.90 to trade at $1308.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.37% to 29.924, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2133.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 93.18.
