Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electricity, Paper & Pulp and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jean Co Ltd (TW:2442), which rose 9.96% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.90 at the close. Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) added 9.94% or 0.71 points to end at 7.85 and Silergy Corp (TW:6415) was up 9.92% or 44.00 points to 487.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asia Polymer Corp (TW:1308), which lost 8.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.65 in late trade. Yieh Phui Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:2023) declined 6.70% or 0.70 points to end at 9.75 and Kerry TJ Logistics Co Ltd (TW:2608) shed 5.81% or 2.15 points to 34.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 477 to 334 and 99 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $51.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $59.98 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1229.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.11% to 30.787, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2258.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.670.
