Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Beverages & Tobacco, Investment Trust and Diversified Holdings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML), which rose 13.75% or 4.40 points to trade at 36.40 at the close. Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU) added 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.900 and Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) was up 12.50% or 0.100 points to 0.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Horana Plantations PLC (CM:HOPL), which lost 8.10% or 2.00 points to trade at 22.70 in late trade. Lanka IOC PLC (CM:LIOC) declined 5.17% or 1.80 points to end at 33.00 and Abans Electricals PLC (CM:ABAN) shed 4.78% or 4.30 points to 85.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 91 to 72 and 57 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.32% or 0.22 to $67.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.15% or 0.11 to hit $73.97 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.56% or 7.50 to trade at $1325.50 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.38% to 220.165, while USD/LKR rose 0.52% to 157.780.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 90.82.
