Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Services, Telecoms and Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 16.67% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.7000 at the close. Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) added 14.29% or 0.100 points to end at 0.800 and Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM) was up 11.11% or 0.200 points to 2.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kahawatte Plantations PLC (CM:KAHA), which lost 15.93% or 5.80 points to trade at 30.60 in late trade. Horana Plantations PLC (CM:HOPL) declined 8.94% or 1.60 points to end at 16.30 and HNB Assurance PLC (CM:HASU) shed 8.61% or 5.00 points to 53.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 78 to 67 and 53 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.84% or 0.45 to $54.21 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.79% or 0.45 to hit $57.34 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.22% or 2.65 to trade at $1178.65 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.31% to 183.720, while USD/LKR fell 0.09% to 148.330.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 101.57.
