Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 1.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA), which rose 0.35% or 0.45 points to trade at 127.30 at the close. Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) fell 0.78% or 0.150 points to end at 19.125 and Viscofan (MC:VIS) was down 0.08% or 0.040 points to 49.280 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Santander (MC:SAN), which lost 2.10% or 0.078 points to trade at 3.640 in late trade. BBVA (MC:BBVA) declined 2.89% or 0.150 points to end at 5.049 and Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) shed 1.97% or 0.046 points to 2.285.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 127 to 50 and 28 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.68% or 9.25 to $1347.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $48.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.35% or 0.18 to trade at $50.71 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.1316, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.8675.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 94.57.
