Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Ferrovial (MC:FER), which rose 1.98% or 0.380 points to trade at 19.540 at the close. Abertis Infr (MC:ABE) added 1.33% or 0.215 points to end at 16.410 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) was up 0.97% or 0.235 points to 24.360 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Repsol (MC:REP), which lost 1.70% or 0.235 points to trade at 13.555 in late trade. Telefonica (MC:TEF) declined 1.35% or 0.124 points to end at 9.026 and ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) shed 1.23% or 0.255 points to 20.470.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 97 to 88 and 23 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.34% or 4.19 to $1223.39 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.51% or 1.65 to hit $45.42 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.94% or 1.46 to trade at $48.15 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1334, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8773.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 96.10.
