Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 2.85% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Abertis Infr (MC:ABE), which rose 0.91% or 0.155 points to trade at 17.260 at the close. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM) added 0.86% or 0.100 points to end at 11.775 and ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) was up 0.18% or 0.040 points to 22.680 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B. Sabadell (MC:SABE), which lost 5.69% or 0.096 points to trade at 1.591 in late trade. Inmobiliaria Colonial SA (MC:COL) declined 5.51% or 0.457 points to end at 7.840 and Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) shed 4.96% or 0.204 points to 3.910.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 162 to 29 and 9 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 1.59 to $1276.31 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.79% or 0.40 to hit $50.02 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.21 to trade at $55.79 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.15% to 1.1762, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8863.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.29.
