Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Inditex (MC:ITX), which rose 1.04% or 0.270 points to trade at 26.140 at the close. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM) added 0.97% or 0.125 points to end at 13.030 and Gas Natural (MC:GAS) was up 0.40% or 0.075 points to 18.910 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which lost 3.81% or 0.890 points to trade at 22.450 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) declined 3.31% or 0.880 points to end at 25.700 and Repsol (MC:REP) shed 3.02% or 0.430 points to 13.790.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 131 to 50 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.40% or 5.20 to $1317.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.53% or 0.33 to hit $62.08 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.18 to trade at $66.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.2339, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.8788.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 89.43.
