Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.56% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:SGREN), which rose 1.93% or 0.184 points to trade at 9.742 at the close. Inmobiliaria Colonial SA (MC:COL) added 1.84% or 0.160 points to end at 8.875 and Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) was up 1.59% or 0.17 points to 11.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which lost 5.79% or 1.330 points to trade at 21.660 in late trade. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) declined 5.65% or 0.041 points to end at 0.691 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) shed 3.30% or 0.035 points to 1.040.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 86 to 84 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.90 to $1231.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.78% or 1.18 to hit $67.61 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.28% or 0.98 to trade at $77.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.66% to 1.1396, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8833.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 96.11.
