Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Red Electrica Corporacion SA (MC:REE), which rose 1.84% or 0.345 points to trade at 19.070 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) added 1.77% or 0.455 points to end at 26.150 and Iberdrola (MC:IBE) was up 1.11% or 0.074 points to 6.710 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B. Sabadell (MC:SABE), which lost 1.58% or 0.026 points to trade at 1.623 in late trade. BBVA (MC:BBVA) declined 1.48% or 0.106 points to end at 7.076 and Bankia SA (MC:BKIA) shed 1.47% or 0.059 points to 3.948.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 91 to 82 and 16 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.13% or 1.60 to $1266.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.41% or 1.39 to hit $56.23 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.10% or 1.32 to trade at $61.54 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1793, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8821.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 93.56.
