Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Goods and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were BBVA (MC:BBVA), which rose 1.56% or 0.100 points to trade at 6.490 at the close. Bankia (MC:BKIA) added 1.25% or 0.010 points to end at 0.807 and Endesa (MC:ELE) was up 1.01% or 0.190 points to 18.955 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 4.47% or 0.274 points to trade at 5.860 in late trade. Gamesa (MC:GAM) declined 3.69% or 0.735 points to end at 19.200 and Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) shed 1.39% or 0.155 points to 11.000.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 115 to 91 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.07% or 0.85 to $1278.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.53% or 0.24 to hit $45.13 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.05 to trade at $46.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1025, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.8909.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 97.90.
