Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Financial Services & Real Estate and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.56% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Inditex (MC:ITX), which rose 1.66% or 0.420 points to trade at 25.780 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) added 1.30% or 0.360 points to end at 28.160 and ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (MC:ACS) was up 1.21% or 0.420 points to 35.030 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which lost 5.72% or 0.482 points to trade at 7.940 in late trade. Viscofan (MC:VIS) declined 2.14% or 1.200 points to end at 55.000 and Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) shed 1.11% or 0.25 points to 22.24.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 124 to 57 and 23 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.44% or 5.80 to $1317.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.75% or 0.51 to hit $68.61 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.69% or 1.25 to trade at $75.04 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.2097, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.8785.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 91.52.
