Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Financial Services & Real Estate and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Endesa (MC:ELE), which rose 3.06% or 0.560 points to trade at 18.845 at the close. Viscofan (MC:VIS) added 3.02% or 1.540 points to end at 52.580 and Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) was up 2.79% or 0.110 points to 4.048 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Melia Hotels (MC:MEL), which lost 2.27% or 0.265 points to trade at 11.420 in late trade. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) declined 1.72% or 0.161 points to end at 9.185 and Amadeus IT (MC:AMA) shed 1.23% or 0.760 points to 61.190.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 100 to 81 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.78% or 10.04 to $1291.74 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.48% or 0.84 to hit $57.67 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.38 to trade at $62.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1798, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8871.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 93.36.
