Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA (BME:ANE), which rose 2.54% or 0.47 points to trade at 19.01 at the close. Banco de Sabadell SA (BME:SABE) added 1.96% or 0.04 points to end at 1.93 and Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY) was up 1.77% or 0.38 points to 21.88 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merlin Properties SA (BME:MRL), which lost 3.91% or 0.42 points to trade at 10.33 in late trade. Acerinox (BME:ACX) declined 3.79% or 0.38 points to end at 9.51 and Melia Hotels (BME:MEL) shed 3.26% or 0.25 points to 7.26.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 105 to 97 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.07% or 1.75 to $2,466.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.96% or 1.56 to hit $81.27 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.48% or 1.24 to trade at $84.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 103.54.
