Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Inmarsat PLC (LONDON:ISA), which rose 4.86% or 45.50 points to trade at 981.00 at the close. BG Group PLC (LONDON:BG) added 3.41% or 32.80 points to end at 994.60 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC (LONDON:RDSb) was up 2.83% or 47.00 points to 1706.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LONDON:TUIT), which lost 2.77% or 33.00 points to trade at 1156.00 in late trade. St. James`s Place PLC (LONDON:SJP) declined 1.77% or 16.50 points to end at 915.50 and EasyJet PLC (LONDON:EZJ) shed 1.29% or 22.00 points to 1683.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1740 to 851 and 454 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.91% or 10.20 to $1132.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 6.37% or 2.71 to hit $45.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 5.75% or 2.73 to trade at $50.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.15% to 1.5380, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.7271.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 96.16.
