Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Technology and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 4.26% or 3.79 points to trade at 92.67 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 1.31% or 0.35 points to end at 27.00 and Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) was up 0.47% or 0.43 points to 91.63 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB), which lost 4.97% or 3.84 points to trade at 73.42 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:ING) declined 3.31% or 0.355 points to end at 10.380 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 2.86% or 1.390 points to 47.245.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 82 to 52 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.51% or 6.55 to $1289.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.88% or 1.29 to hit $43.49 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.07% or 0.95 to trade at $44.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.1512, while EUR/GBP rose 0.65% to 0.7912.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 92.84.
