Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.29%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP), which rose 3.41% or 1.57 points to trade at 47.60 at the close. AXA SA (PA:AXAF) added 3.32% or 0.63 points to end at 19.60 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) was up 3.19% or 0.98 points to 31.89 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP), which lost 4.10% or 9.75 points to trade at 227.90 in late trade. Accor SA (PA:ACCP) declined 3.81% or 1.36 points to end at 34.45 and Klepierre (PA:LOIM) shed 2.74% or 1.09 points to 38.89.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which rose 4.52% to 4.367, BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) which was up 3.41% to settle at 47.60 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) which gained 3.32% to close at 19.60.
The worst performers were Groupe Eurotunnel (PA:GETP) which was down 4.46% to 9.014 in late trade, Numericable SFR SA (PA:SFRGR) which lost 4.37% to settle at 25.360 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) which was down 4.10% to 227.90 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 366 to 294 and 112 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.34% to 18.80.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.35% or 4.45 to $1265.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.32% or 1.13 to hit $49.82 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.12% or 1.08 to trade at $51.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.1202, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8790.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 96.18.
