Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 1.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which rose 3.99% or 2.61 points to trade at 68.00 at the close. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) added 3.38% or 66.0 points to end at 2021.0 and MVideo (MCX:MVID) was up 3.17% or 6.20 points to 201.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sberbank (pref) (MCX:SBER_p), which lost 8.06% or 4.39 points to trade at 50.11 in late trade. Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) declined 6.65% or 20.80 points to end at 292.20 and Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) shed 5.50% or 9.00 points to 154.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 103 to 82 and 9 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.36% to 35.960 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.36% or 4.30 to $1202.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.97% or 0.55 to hit $56.16 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.14 to trade at $64.12 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 5.69% to 52.644, while EUR/RUB rose 5.88% to 56.792.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.77.
