Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which rose 1.59% or 9.30 points to trade at 594.30 at the close. Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL) added 1.46% or 2.20 points to end at 153.00 and Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) was up 1.39% or 2.00 points to 146.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Magnit (MCX:MGNT), which lost 3.53% or 412.0 points to trade at 11268.0 in late trade. LSR (MCX:LSRG) declined 3.49% or 21.0 points to end at 581.0 and Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) shed 3.08% or 1.52 points to 47.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 104 to 79 and 10 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.22% to 36.380.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.43% or 5.00 to $1178.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.13% or 1.27 to hit $58.36 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.27% or 1.44 to trade at $61.83 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.18% to 55.480, while EUR/RUB rose 1.43% to 62.164.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 95.30.
