Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR), which rose 5.35% or 130.0 points to trade at 2560.0 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) added 3.22% or 2.290 points to end at 73.490 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) was up 3.16% or 10.50 points to 342.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PIK (MCX:PIKK), which lost 2.60% or 4.50 points to trade at 168.30 in late trade. Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) declined 1.96% or 8.50 points to end at 426.00 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) shed 1.81% or 16.00 points to 866.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 115 to 88 and 8 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.55% to 36.380.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.42% or 4.60 to $1090.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.80% or 1.79 to hit $45.33 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 4.47% or 2.33 to trade at $49.88 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.98% to 62.908, while EUR/RUB rose 1.67% to 68.903.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 97.58.
