Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Power, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Magnit (MCX:MGNT), which rose 3.77% or 442.0 points to trade at 12177.0 at the close. Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) added 2.27% or 13.60 points to end at 612.40 and Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) was up 1.67% or 10.0 points to 608.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which lost 3.63% or 0.0024 points to trade at 0.0648 in late trade. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) declined 3.10% or 0.0150 points to end at 0.4695 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) shed 2.70% or 24.00 points to 865.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 105 to 83 and 11 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.21% to 28.450 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.02% or 11.30 to $1092.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.06% or 1.05 to hit $49.81 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.11% or 0.64 to trade at $56.41 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.44% to 57.158, while EUR/RUB fell 0.17% to 62.231.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 97.85.
