Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 2.36% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p), which rose 5.27% or 6.84 points to trade at 136.59 at the close. Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) added 4.26% or 18.20 points to end at 445.20 and Rosneft (MCX:ROSN) was up 4.15% or 16.70 points to 419.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK), which lost 1.12% or 8.90 points to trade at 783.00 in late trade. Akron (MCX:AKRN) declined 0.98% or 35.0 points to end at 3540.0 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) shed 0.97% or 0.225 points to 22.945.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 148 to 66 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 7.56% to 24.200.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.83% or 9.55 to $1161.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.60% or 0.86 to hit $52.86 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.48% or 0.84 to trade at $55.98 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.58% to 60.9153, while EUR/RUB fell 0.94% to 63.436.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.79% at 103.18.
